It’s those eyes and that smile that dragged me in.
Smiling is exactly what Paula does when she explains why she’s marrying David. He’s my absolute opposite, he keeps me grounded (without him I’d have ten credit cards and be driving a car I couldn’t afford!) but for us it works perfectly… and it seems they are opposites. Paula is an extrovert; chatty, full of laughs and collector of friends. David is more the strong silent type… until I ask him why he’s marrying Paula… She’s just awesome, she gets on with everyone, she looks after me, she’s attractive, I just love her. Sigh. Another reason to love this job!
Their wedding day didn’t so much dawn as thunder its way to light, meaning a nervous wait for the torrential rain to clear… but the girls didn’t let that worry them, joking and giggling as they got ready in the country, helped by hair stylist Fleur Devonshire and make-up by Trace… I’m still not sure how they managed to stay still for the makeup with all the wit flying backwards and forwards between them – the girls were hilarious and so much fun to photograph.
Meanwhile the boys got control of those last minute speeches:
And then it happened.
The sun pushed the clouds away just as Paula tapped David on the shoulder for their First Look in the skybridge at Puke Ariki.
It stayed shining over Lake Mangamahoe as Paula and David promised each other their lives, in an emotional ceremony that was so completely “them” and filled with laughter and a few tears.
The reception at Cafe Espresso was equally as touching and it was obvious that their friends and family were thrilled for them to finally be married!
Paula and David, we were honoured to share your wedding day with you and wish you love and laughter as you start this new part of your journey together.
