A friend’s mum recently said to me, “I had a look at your blog-thingy and there are lots of nice photos of engaged people – but I couldn’t find some of their weddings. Didn’t they end up getting married?” Ah, yes, the wedding blogs… so many from last season to catch up on and cover. So, I’ll follow Julie Andrews’ advice and start at the very beginning (a very good place to start)…
Sometimes things have a way of all coming together perfectly – one couple changes their wedding date and the very next day a bride calls to enquire about that same date… and voila, we meet the sweetest couple and get to share their emotional and long-awaited wedding day with them! Sade and Blair chose the most adorable venue for their ceremony – Tairoa Lodge is exactly the kind of place I’d want to say ‘I do’ if I could do it all over again – charming, lovingly restored and brimming with soul and character.
We joined them as the boys got ready in the Lodge and the girls in the Cottage before Sade and Blair met for their First Look – a serene moment for the bride and groom to take each other in and gather themselves together before starting their happily ever after. I love it when a couple chooses to have a First Look – not only does it give them more time with their guests in between the ceremony and reception, it’s a lovely calm spot in a very full-on day and means the bride and groom can spend a short time on their own just revelling in the moment and maybe even alleviating some of those last minute nerves. Sade was radiant, supremely chilled-out and oh-so-ready to meet her almost-husband and Blair couldn’t look anywhere apart from her – the perfect start.
After a sweet garden ceremony in the November sunshine, we managed to sneak in a few more photos, first inside the Lodge, then on the way to the TSB Hub for their fabulous reception… where it was hard to pick a highlight – the food (especially dessert!)? The speeches? The band? So I won’t, but let’s just say I’d happily recommend the Hub to anyone – they looked after Sade and Blair and their guests (and us) SO well.
Sade & Blair – we loved sharing your day with you and we’re honoured you chose us to capture you both at your finest. May life grant you more happiness than you know what to do with and smiles so big people will wonder what you’ve been up to!
